“It is rewarding to conduct training sessions together and do follow-up work. Sharing the lessons learned in this way builds lasting support for these kinds of efforts to improve the lives of working women”
—Dr. Adi Sasongko

Country Context

The Indonesian government's reproductive health policy focuses on mother and child health, safe pregnancy, and motherhood and infant growth. As a result, married women are relatively well informed about their reproductive health and rights. However, single women are not expected to be sexually active, so no services beyond public television and radio campaigns are available to unmarried women.

Private spending on health care has increased since decentralization of health facilities to local and provincial governments in 2001.
